COURSE DESCRIPTIONS Vital Solutions: Tackling Vitamin Deficiencies From Diagnosis and Treatment

This course will educate learners on the essential functions of vitamins in the body and the clinical consequences of vitamin deficiencies. Participants will explore the disease processes associated with inadequate vitamin levels and review evidence-based strategies for diagnosis, supplementation, and management. Practical guidance will be provided to support effective treatment and prevention in diverse patient populations.

Complete Blood Count: Diagnostic Insights for Panic Prevention

This session provides Advanced Practice Providers with a practical and clinically focused review of the Complete Blood Count (CBC) and its interpretation. The presentation breaks down each component of the CBC—red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, platelets, and differential counts—explaining normal ranges, common abnormalities, and patterns that signal underlying disease.

KEYNOTE: Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests related to the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands

The presentation will review normal production and pathological changes in hormone production of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. Laboratory diagnostics specific to evaluating function of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands will be reviewed. Choice of laboratory diagnostics to determine disease state will be discussed.

The ups and downs of women's hormones

The presentation will review female hormone synthesis and action over the lifespan. Using that information, details about choosing and interpreting laboratory tests will be examined to assist in identifying normal hormone states versus pathology.

Hepatic Labs What am I Looking At?

This course will educate the learner on the difficult to navigate hepatic labs. Discussing LFTS, INR and all things LIVER!

The Urine Pregnancy Test: Everything you should know but probably don’t about the most common lab test

The urine pregnancy test is the most common test performed in clinical care and yet we often do not treat it like other lab tests. When we perform a lab test, it is our clinical responsibility to interpret the test results, inform the patient, discuss treatment options and then either provide or refer for treatment. In the case of the pregnancy test, we often stop at informing the patient of the results. In this presentation, you will become comfortable interpreting pregnancy test results, discussing all treatment options and providing or referring for care. We will start with the basics of the pregnancy test: how long it takes for a pregnancy test to become positive after sex and menses; how long it takes to become negative after miscarriage and abortion and the expected trends of HCG levels in normal and ectopic pregnancies. You will learn how to provide the complete management of a negative pregnancy test including how to use it as an opportunity to prevent birth defects and intiate birth control using the quick start method. You will also gain all the skills you need to be comfortable providing the complete management of a positive pregnancy test. You will learn how to inform a patient of a positive pregnancy test in a non-judgemental and supportive manner. You will learn how to discuss all treatment options of a positive pregnancy test including abortion. We will talk about the landscape of abortion access in the U.S. and how to provide resources and referrals for abortion care.

Rheumatologic Labs: Overview and Interpretation

This session will review the common laboratory tests used in the evaluation of rheumatologic conditions, emphasizing the appropriate clinical context for ordering each test, key lab characteristics, and how to accurately interpret the results. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of when and how to apply these labs in practice to support effective diagnosis and management of rheumatologic disorders.

Anemia/ Polycythemia-Too little or too much- and what does it mean.

Selecting, interpreting, and managing hematologic laboratory tests are essential to quality care and often is a complex and challenging process. Interpreting labs is much more complicated than determining if results are normal or anormal. Understanding the normal physiology of blood cell production and the pathophysiology of conditions that can cause abnormalities is important to diagnosing, managing and often preventing pathological hematologic conditions, such as anemia and polycythemia. This presentation will help learners manage these conditions using a systematic approach to selection and interpretation of labs and evidenced based management using case studies for context.

Genetic testing, it’s not just BRCA genes! Breast, colorectal, ovarian, prostate, and pancreatic cancer screening updates

"Supported by an educational grant from Merck" This session will provide an up-to-date review of current multigene panel testing options and possible outcomes for patients with cancer. We will also describe the published management recommendations for those with hereditary cancer predisposition.
