Which of the following is the current recommendation for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) screening during pregnancy:
a. There is varied opinion about screening for HIV in pregnancy. Early treatment during pregnancy has been shown to reduce the incidence of perinatal transmission; therefore, the CDC recommends all pregnant women be counseled about testing and encouraged to do so. Screening is by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
