Join Sattaria S. Dilks, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC and Dawn Vanderhoef, PhD, DNP, PMHNP-BC, FAANP in Nashville, TN on Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, 2017 for APEA's Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Exam Review and Clinical Update.

This 2-day course provides clinical and practice information to prepare NPs to pass the exam for the PMHNP-BC credential and to equip primary care NPs with mental health assessment and treatment skills. Day 2 focuses on advanced assessment and pharmacology for this population, making it particularly useful for family and adult NPs already in practice. PMHNP candidates should attend both days in order to prepare for the certification examination. See Agenda Tab for details. The available contact hours are 16.5 hours for attending both days and 8.25 contact hours for 1 day.

Choose to attend Day 1, Day 2 or Day 1 & 2. Different topics will be presented each day! Breakfast will be provided and lunch will be on your own. Program will be from 8:30am - 5:30pm with registration at 7:45 am.

  • $400 for 2-day course (May 20 AND May 21) providing 16.5 contact hours; $375 Early Bird price if registered by 11:59 p.m. on April 8, 2017

Dawn Vanderhoef
PhD, DNP, PMHNP-BC, FAANP

Dr. Vanderhoef is the academic director of the PMHNP specialty at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville. Dr. Vanderhoef has more than 15 years of experience as an APRN. Her current practice, in a local community mental health center, is focused on working with patients diagnosed with a severe mental illness, cardiometabolic side effects from antipsychotic medication, and integrated care models. Dr. Vanderhoef is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) and National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF). She also has served on the American Nurses Credentialing Center PMHNP expert panel as an item writer.

Dr. Vanderhoef co-edited the 3rd edition of the ANA PMHNP review manual and recently completed the 4th edition, which was published in April 2016. She has published and presented extensively at a variety of local, regional and national conferences.

Dr. Vanderhoef has a passion for clinical education and incorporating technology into the classroom. Her work has been recognized by a variety of organizations, most recently by APNA as the recipient of the Award in Education.

Sattaria S. Dilks
DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC

Dr. Dilks is an associate professor at McNeese State University College of Nursing in Lake Charles, LA. She directs the psychiatric nurse practitioner program for an intercollegiate consortium involving McNeese, Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

In 2011, Dr. Dilks was the Louisiana recipient of the 2011 State Award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Dr. Dilks practices as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and as a mental health counselor in the Lake Charles community. She is certified or licensed as a family nurse practitioner, an adult psychiatric nurse practitioner, a family psychiatric nurse practitioner and a professional counselor in Louisiana.

Dilks is a recipient of the Fred and Ruth B. Zigler Foundation Professorship in Nursing and the Fannie Edith Winn Educational Trust Professorship in Nursing, and she received the Pinnacle Excellence Award from the McNeese College of Nursing.

Course cancellations received 4 weeks prior to the course will receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. Cancellations received after the 4-week cutoff will incur a $150 fee. No refunds or credits will be issued for cancellations received the day of the course or for no shows.
