Who We Are
Amelie Hollier, DNP, FNP-BC, FAANP
A passion for teaching. A passion for practice.You see it in her eyes. You sense it when she begins to speak. Amelie Hollier is blessed with both a passion for teaching and a passion
for practice. She is absolutely determined to see the proverbial bulb light up above a student’s head. And in her clinic, she is patient-focused,
determined to eliminate a risk factor for heart disease or find a diagnosis for an ailment.
Amelie is a nationally certified family nurse practitioner, CEO and co-owner of Advanced Practice Education Associates (APEA), a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and serves on the editorial board of the Journal for Nurse Practitioners. She is an expert on Nurse Practitioner practice issues, travels extensively throughout the U.S. presenting on-site certification exam review courses, and lectures on advanced pharmacology and primary care topics. Amelie has authored and co-authored sixteen books for primary care providers including Clinical Guidelines in Primary Care: A Reference and Review Book and is in part-time clinical practice at St. Clare's Medical Home at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana. Jeanie Doucet, MBA, MT(ASCP)

is the consummate professional, wise beyond her years. When you meet Jeanie Doucet, it is apparent that nothing is more important to
her than helping. If you aren’t successful, she isn’t successful; that is the way she sees it. She understands the goals you have,
shares your vision and designs a path to help you achieve your dreams.
Jeanie is the Vice-President and co-founder of APEA. She provides leadership and management of all day-to-day operational aspects of APEA. She gives guidance and direction in business development and strategic planning. She has over 20 years of experience in hospital laboratories with 12 years in laboratory management. She has served as a consultant for hospital laboratories and has set-up an inter-hospital laboratory network. She was the co-owner and CEO of a local independent medical laboratory for 5 years.
Betty Vicknair, APRN, MSN, PNP
A passion for pediatrics. A passion for educating/organizingIn January of 2014, Betty joined Advanced Practice Education Association as a Nurse Practitioner Faculty member and serves as APEA’s
Faculty and Student Liaison and assists with the development and implementation of new learning resources.
Betty is strong, intelligent, and charismatic; she knows how to “get things done” while still demonstrating grace and compassion. Since 2006, she has served on the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners (LANP) Board of Directors and Executive Committee and is spearheading an educational foundation through LANP. She has presented at the local, regional, and national levels on pediatric and educational topics. In 2010 she was nominated for the Seymour Weiss Excellence in Teaching Award and received the Endowed Professorship Award in 2013.
Betty received her RN Diploma Degree from Mather School of Nursing in New Orleans in 1970; her BSN from William Carey College, New Orleans Campus in 1975, her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner degree from Tulane University Medical Center, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 1977, and her MSN from the University of Phoenix, New Orleans Campus in 1995.
Kathy Baldridge, DNP, FNP-BC, FAAPM
A passion for knowledge. A passion for people.Kathy joined
APEA in September 2015 as NP Faculty/Test Item Writer and will be directing psychometric testing and analysis for APEA. She will also
be responding to student inquiries, mentoring and assisting in special projects.
Kindness married with knowledge and professionalism is what Kathy strives to achieve. She is tenacious in her pursuit of knowledge and believes that critical thinking is only achieved through the continuous process of seeking evidence and then logically applying that evidence. Kathy is actively involved in her community and church and continues to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Incarnate Word Community Clinic in Alexandria, La.
Kathy has served as a board member for the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners for the past 5 years and has been actively involved in the planning of the Primary Care Conference during that time. Kathy received her ADN at Louisiana State University at Alexandria in 1993, BSN (2006) and MSN (2009) at Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, La.; DNP from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa in 2013.
Mimi Secor, DNP, FNP-BC, NCMP, FAANP
A passion for educating. A passion for women’s health and fitnessMimi has worked for 38 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in Women’s Health and is nationally certified as a menopause
practitioner. Mimi has years of media experience including interviews conducted by Good Morning America, Wall Street Journal and is
a radio host of the NP program, Partners in Practice on Reach MD.
Mimi is a visiting scholar at Boston College William F. Connell Graduate School of Nursing and is a guest lecturer at various NP programs in New England and around the country. Her extensive publishings include 2014 Advanced Health Assessment of Women (co-authored); Skills and Procedures, and her 2012 Fast Facts About the Gynecologic Exam for Nurse Practitioners: Conducting the GYN Exam in a Nutshell (co-authored). She is currently employed at Newton Wellesley OB/GYN in Newton Massachusetts. Mimi guest lectures for APEA at various review courses around the country.
Craig P Newman, MS
A passion for health education. A passion for learning
Craig joined Advanced Practice Education Associates in June of 2016 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He has over 28 years of experience in sales and marketing for a major pharmaceutical company. His enthusiasm around marketing, the sales process, and education have won him numerous awards over the years.
He has extensive experience working with key opinion leaders, large group practices and specialty clinics. Craig puts processes in place that always keeps the customers’ best interests in mind.
Craig received his Master’s degree in Cardiac Rehabilitation/Physiology from Louisiana State University
